I just wanted to pop in real quick and share something cool with you. I’ve been an avid supporter of the Standing Rock Water Protectors practically since day one. For sure since the first day I read about it online. So much so, that I have blown up my personal Facebook page with so many posts supporting their efforts that I’ve lost many friends from my friend’s list. But I felt it was worth it. I shared those posts and my thoughts in the hopes of spreading the word and helping others to understand why their battle is our battle and why it is so important for the future of this country, and our species as a whole.
One aspect of their efforts in Standing Rock has been an absolute commitment to peaceful protest and the spreading of love to conquer fear. I was very drawn to that part of their action because it is something that I too support and believe in. If you’re already a fan of the Quest then you know that the Quest of the Guardians story is about love conquering fear and that there is power in unity. The Standing Rock story was a natural fit for me. It made sense, and I supported them in every way that I could from my little corner of the world. Every day my heart felt pulled to go and join them, and I still might, because this isn’t over yet.
So anyway, I’ve been working on Episode Two of the Quest: Drop of Water, since April, which is also when the Standing Rock action began. I noted the irony right away and was reminded of it daily these past eight months. Today, I wrote the scene in which our heroes achieve their goal of regaining control of the water. I completed the scene and less than a minute later I received a text from my daughter; sharing the news that the Dakota Access Pipeline had been halted.
I admit, it gave me goosebumps as I wondered at the serendipity of the moment…Kind of wishing now that I had written that scene months ago, LOL!
